Representing Ireland's provincial west coast, Connacht don the same emerald green as their country's national side and were crowned Pro12 champions as recently as 2016, defeating Leinster despite having a much smaller population size and pool of players to choose from.

The current side boasts record PRO12/14 points-scorer Jack Carty, captain Jarrad Butler and the rapidly emerging international Bundee Aki. Led by new coach Andy Friend, the side from Galway currently compete in both the PRO14 and the European Champions Cup, where they've been pitted together with Gloucester and the French duo of Toulouse and Montpellier in Pool 5.

Galway is famous for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere and range of pubs, both in the city centre and the Atlantic quayside, a key watering hole in the country's 'Wild Atlantic Way'. The city's impressive cathedral sits on the banks of the Shannon and is well worth a visit.
